Tribute To Dore - The Nativity: The artpiece is part 3 of a personal tribute of mine, to my favorite artist, Gustav Dore, done in his classical masters style rendering and figure poses. Dore did some of the most amazing work illustrating biblical scenes in his portfolio of black and white etchings. I wanted to do some of his works and similar settings, in full color, to honor the man, the artist, for his amazing talent that he invested into the Kingdom of God. In this scene you have the Nativity, the Birth Of Christ, and his mother Mary surrounded by shepherds, the 3 wise men, her husband, and a few locals. I left some of the painting somewhat loose to show the roughness of the setting, in a manger, yet Mary and child are refined, in beauty and splendor, almost glowing with the Glory of God, on that miraculous day.
